Papa Louie: When Pizzas Attack

Papa Louie: When Pizzas Attack is the odd one out in the series and worth knowing before you click: it is a side-scrolling platformer, not a cooking game. Papa Louie himself is the player character.

The Infamous Onion Ring gets into the orders during a party at the pizzeria, the pizzas turn into Pizza Monsters and carry the customers off to other worlds, and you go after them with a pizza paddle. Defeated monsters drop pizza boxes, and carrying those to the goal platform is what raises the cage the customers are held in.

Pepper bombs are bought with coins rather than found, and the hat doubles as a glider, which is the whole of the movement kit.

How to play Papa Louie: When Pizzas Attack

Run, swing, throw, glide

  • Clear the Training Stage first. It is also how you get back to the pizzeria to buy pepper bombs, through the first door on the first floor.
  • Swing the paddle at the monsters and pick up the pizza boxes they drop.
  • Carry the boxes to the goal platform. The cage holding the customers rises as the boxes go in, so the boxes are the level rather than the exit.
  • Save the pepper bombs for what the paddle cannot reach, since they cost coins.

Controls

Arrow keys walk, run and climb. Spacebar or C jumps, and holding it opens the hat as a glider. Z swings the paddle and X throws a pepper bomb. The game is Flash through an emulator with no touch support, so a keyboard is required.

Tips and strategy

Treat the boxes as the objective and the monsters as an obstacle: killing everything is not the goal and often costs more than it earns. Learn the glide early, because several routes only open if you leave the ground with height to spare. Buy pepper bombs before a hard stretch rather than hoarding coins.
