Papa's Pastaria

Papa's Pastaria strands you in Portallini, a waterfront town, after a destination wedding, and the shop you end up running is the first in the series with a proper dining room rather than a counter and a lobby.

An order is a noodle, a sauce, toppings and a side of bread, and the Bread Station runs alongside the pot the way the fries did in Cheeseria. Once a Server is hired, the dining room becomes something you manage rather than something you watch.

Eighty-five customers pass through, the calendar is four seasons deep with twelve holidays set in it, and the last rank to unlock is sixty-five, which makes this one of the longest entries.

How to play Papa's Pastaria

Boil, sauce, top, toast

  • Start the noodles first. They are the slowest part of the order and everything else can be timed around them.
  • Stir when the game asks and drain on the mark. Overcooked pasta cannot be rescued and is the main way an order is lost outright.
  • Sauce and top in the sequence the ticket lists, because the order of toppings is scored, not just their presence.
  • Toast the bread alongside rather than after, since it cooks unattended and is scored with the plate.

Controls

Mouse only, because the game is Flash running through an emulator with no touch support. A phone draws the restaurant but cannot work it.

Tips and strategy

The pot sets the pace and the Bread Station is free time, so start both before touching a sauce. Hire the Server as soon as the tips allow: the dining room keeps filling whether or not anyone is looking after it. The mini-games change by day of the week, so a prize you want may be worth waiting a day for.
