Grandma Recipe Apple Pie

Grandma Recipe Apple Pie has a framing device most baking games do not bother with: the recipe arrives by text message. Annie asks her grandmother how the family pie is made, and the reply comes through as a list of tools and ingredients to gather before anything else happens.

The baking itself is unhurried and in order. Apples are cut, spiced and sugared and cooked down into a filling, the crust is formed, the filling goes in, and the pie bakes until it colours.

Then it turns into two other things briefly. Annie is dressed from a wardrobe while the pie cools, and the finished pie is decorated and photographed to send back to the grandmother who supplied the recipe.

How to play Grandma Recipe Apple Pie

Gather, cook the filling, bake, photograph

Read the message and collect every tool and ingredient it names by clicking them around the kitchen.
Cut the apples, then season them with the spices and the sugar.
Cook the filling down before it goes anywhere near the pastry.
Form the crust, fill it and bake until it turns golden.
Dress Annie while it cools, then decorate the pie and take the photograph.

Tips and strategy

Collect the whole list before starting, because the game sends you back for anything missing and that is the only real interruption in it. Nothing is timed, so the filling can be cooked properly rather than rushed. Save some decoration for the photograph rather than using everything on the bake, since the picture is what the game treats as the finish.
