Unicorns Donuteria

Unicorns Donuteria is a service game with a short fuse. You have been taken on at a shop whose entire customer base is unicorns, and they are not patient.

Every order has about thirty seconds on it. In that time the donut has to be baked and decorated to what was asked for, and the drink alongside it has to be made too, which is the part most summaries of this game leave out: it is a two-product counter, not a donut counter.

Let four of them walk out without being served and the run is over, so the game is about triage rather than perfection. Money and points come in per order, with more for speed, and the pressure rises as the queue thickens rather than as the recipes get harder.

How to play Unicorns Donuteria

Read it, bake it, pour it, serve

  • Study the order the unicorn at the front is holding.
  • Bake the donut and decorate it to match.
  • Make the drink that goes with it.
  • Serve both inside the time on the order.
  • Keep count: four unhappy customers leaving ends the run.

Controls

Played with the left mouse button on the ingredients and the counter, or by touch on a phone or tablet.

Tips and strategy

Start the drink first and let it stand while the donut bakes, since the drink needs no attention once it is going and the donut does. Read the whole order before touching anything, because thirty seconds does not leave room to correct a wrong topping. When three have already walked, play safe and serve the simplest orders.
