Sara's Cooking Class: Burritos
Every episode here follows a single real recipe, and the burrito asks for more patience than most: the filling has to be cooked through and torn apart before a single thing can be wrapped.
The chicken goes on first and is shredded once it is done. The beans are warmed, the tortillas are warmed separately so they will fold without cracking, and only then is the burrito built from the pieces and rolled.
An instruction and a tip arrive together at every turn, and the guiding hand can be switched off by anyone who would rather work it out alone. Nothing is timed. The series was written so the recipes also work in a real kitchen, which is why the amounts are stated rather than mimed.
How to play Sara's Cooking Class: Burritos
Cook, shred, warm, fill, roll
- Cook the chicken with the onion, pepper and garlic until it is done through.
- Pull the meat apart into shreds.
- Warm the refried beans, and warm the tortillas on their own so they stay flexible.
- Lay out the tortilla and add the chicken, the beans, the tomato and the seasoning.
- Fold the sides in and roll it up, then add sour cream, guacamole or salsa if you want them.
Controls
Mouse only. The game is Flash running through an emulator, so clicking and dragging work and a touch screen does not.
Tips and strategy
Let Sara lead even where your own method differs, since what gets checked is her sequence and not your cooking. Warming the tortillas is the step people skip and it is the one that decides whether the roll holds together. Turning the helping hand off makes the episode far more interesting, since the sequence is short enough to remember.
