Tasty Cupcakes Cooking

Tasty Cupcakes Cooking is a baking game with nothing attached to it: no customers, no clock and no score. You pick the ingredients, mix, bake and decorate, and then you do it again differently.

The first half is a straight run through a recipe. Ingredients are chosen and combined into a batter, the batter goes into the oven, and the cupcakes come out ready to work on.

The second half is where the game actually lives. Colour, flavour and trimmings are all free choice, chocolate and vanilla among them, and the point is to see what a combination looks like rather than to match a target. It is the gentlest kind of cooking game and makes no pretence otherwise.

How to play Tasty Cupcakes Cooking

Choose, mix, bake, finish

  • Select the ingredients the recipe asks for.
  • Combine them into the batter and get it into the cases.
  • Bake, then take the cupcakes out when they are done.
  • Decorate the cupcakes: pick the colour, the flavour and the trimmings, and put them together however you like.

Controls

The mouse selects the ingredients and works the kitchen equipment. On a phone, tapping does the same.

Tips and strategy

Treat the recipe half as the setup and the decorating half as the game, because that is how it is built. Try a combination you would not actually eat, since nothing is marked wrong and there is no score to protect. If a batch looks dull, the colours and the trimmings are where the difference comes from, not the batter.
